Building near the water? Homes along the Choptank River and Tuckahoe Creek may fall under Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay Critical Area rules, which limit how much new patio, walkway, and other hard surface can go in within 1,000 feet of tidal water. We check every property up front, design around any limits, and handle permitting with the county.

Do I need a permit for a deck or patio in Caroline County?

Most decks, and many porches, patios, and outdoor kitchens, need a permit from Caroline County, and properties near the Choptank may also need Critical Area review. We handle the paperwork as part of every project.

Lawn Artists transformed my lawn with a 4 1/2 month project that addressed dire drainage issues on the property. They are professional, personable, knowledgeable and reasonably priced. At the end of the project they had replaced three retaining walls with ones that work and are beautiful as well. Also they built a paver walkway around the house to again, focus on the erosion issues. Pavers were used on our driveway and beautiful patio.
